A twenty-two (22) year road rage suspect is in Police custody today after “busting a few caps” during an apparent road rage incident.
Police report that on May 20, 2013 just before 12:30 am, a member of the WPS Tactical Team (TST) came upon a motor vehicle accident that had just occurred at McDermot Ave and Princess St. Upon exiting his vehicle, one of the men involved in the crash yelled to the officer that the other involved party had a gun. In a blink of an eye, the tactically trained officer outfitted the suspect in a shiny pair of handcuffs and brought a quick end to a potentially lethal encounter.
Subsequent investigation revealed the suspect took “road rage” to another level when an unsuspecting motorist drew his ire after having the nerve to ask him why he was staring at him. The next thing he knew he was looking down the cold steel barrel of a handgun. The victim did the prudent thing and accelerated away turning East bound on McDermot Ave from Hargrave St. It was at this point the suspect pursued the him and allegedly fired shots into the back of his Mercedes-Benz.
After discharging the firearm the suspect accelerated past the Mercedes, ran a red light and struck a southbound vehicle injuring the twenty-three (23) year old female driver who was subsequently transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
After the suspect was arrested, Police recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the incident.
The suspect, who was not identified, was detained at the Provincial Remand Center and is facing multiple firearms offences, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm & Possession of Cannabis Marihuana.
What the hell is going on out there?
