On April 9, 2018, officers from the Street Crime Unit located suspect Faron Junior Henderson (28) and took him into custody without incident.

Chartrand was stabbed to death in the 500 block of Agnes Street.

Police say the second suspect, previously identified as Jerome Devon Kakagamic (24), remains at large.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Kakagamic but caution he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Kakagamic is described as 6′ tall and weighs 172 pounds.

He is not to be approached under any circumstances.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding Kakagamic’s whereabouts to contact either members of the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Insider Commentary;

Gilbert Chartrand is the 5th reported victim of homicide in the City of Winnipeg this year.

Police would not confirm the motive for the killing, if it was drug or gang related, or if the victim knew his alleged killers.

The WPS Homicide Unit has solved all five (5) killings achieving a 100% solvency rate.
