The victim of an early morning homicide in St. Boniface has been identified as Camille Runke (49) years of Winnipeg.
Runke’s body was found in the 500 block of Marion Street on Friday morning at approximately 8:40 am.
Police indicate she was the victim of an apparent shooting.
Her cause of death has not been released.
Police reported the woman was “associated to” an address in the area where her body was discovered and stressed they were not aware of any potential “risk” the killing presented to the public.
Police spokesman Constable Jason Michalyshen urged the public to report anything they may have witnessed in the area the morning of the homicide.
Police report they’ve received assistance from the public during the investigation but have not made any arrests.

Runke is the fourth (4th) female victim of homicide reported in Winnipeg this year.
- On May 16/17, 2015, just after 1:30 am, EMS personnel were dispatched to the 400 block of Tremblay Street regarding a check the well-being call. Police subsequently located the deceased body of Dorothy Dykens (89) who died as a result of suffering multiple stab wounds. Melissa Joyce Gabriel (35) was charged with Manslaughter in connection with the killing.
- On Tuesday, May 19, 2015, shortly before 6 pm, EMS personnel were dispatched to the 100 block of Cheltenham Cove regarding the report of an injured woman. On arrival, Police discovered the victim, Kathleen Leary (66) who had suffered severe injuries to her upper body. A fifteen (15) year old youth, “known” to Leary was charged with 2nd Degree Murder in connection with the killing.
- On October 8, 2015 at 8:00 am, EMS personnel were dispatched to the 400 block of Flora Ave regarding the report of an injured person. Upon arrival, Police located the victim, Selena Rose Keeper (20) suffering from severe blunt force injuries suffered in a domestic violence attack. Keeper died as a result of her injuries. Ray William Everett (20) was charged with 2nd Degree Murder in connection with the killing.
In 2014, nine (9) women were killed in Winnipeg homicides.
Of the twenty (20) homicides recorded in Winnipeg this year, all but three have been solved.
