On Tuesday, October 3, 2017, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a press release seeking the public’s assistance locating a suspect in a recent homicide investigation.
Police identified the man as Jason Scott Woodhouse (23) of Winnipeg and described him as Indigenous, 6 feet tall, 300 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes.
Police indicated an arrest warrant for manslaughter has been issued for Woodhouse in connection with a shooting that occurred on Friday, July 21, 2017 at approximately 10:00 p.m., in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue.
Police responded to a “shots fired” call and subsequently located a male victim suffering from a gun shot wound. The man was transported to hospital in critical condition but was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The victim was identified as Trevor Bodnarek (27) of Winnipeg.
Police have yet to release information regarding the motive for the shooting.
Bodnarek is the 15th reported victim of homicide this year and is the sixth (6th) victim to be killed due to gun violence in 2017.
In 2016, a total of five (5) homicides were attributed to gun violence.

Woodhouse is the 4th suspect charged in connection with this investigation.
On Friday, September 22, 2017, police issued a media release indicating the following two suspects were charged with 2nd degree murder in connection with this incident;
- Craig Dylan Monkman (19)
- Albert Kelly Thomas (34)
Both men were detained in custody.
On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, police issued a press release indicating the following suspect was charged with manslaughter in connection with this incident;
- Anthony Shane Monias (32)
Monias was also detained in custody.
