On Wednesday, July 5, 2017, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a press release requesting the public’s assistance in locating a further suspect in a recent North End homicide.
Police released a mug shot of a suspect identified as Leon Edward Patchinose (29) indicating he is wanted for manslaughter in connection with the death of William George Sumner.
Sumer was killed on June 18, 2017 in what police described as a drug and gang related slaying.
Police have made several previous arrests in connection with the killing.
Sumner is the 12th reported victim of homicide in Winnipeg this year.
The WPS Homicide Unit has solved all 12 homicides achieving a 100% solvency rate.
Patchinose is described as an Indigenous male, 6’4″ tall and weighs 150 pounds.
Police say he is not to be approached.

Police issued a press release indicating Patchinose had been taken into custody without incident.
He was detained in custody.
