Member of the WPS Homicide Unit are busy working the twentieth (20th) homicide case of the year.
On Friday, October 30, 2015, at approximately 8:40 am, Police responded to the 500 block of Marion Street where the body of a forty-nine (49) year old woman was located in a lane-way.
The victim’s identity has not been disclosed and no arrests have been made.
The cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy.
Police indicate the woman was “associated to” an address in the area where she was found and they were not aware of any potential “risk” the incident presents to the public.
Police spokesman Constable Jason Michalyshen urged the public to report anything they may have witnessed in the area the morning of the killing.
In a news conference Michalyshen said, “Things we hear, things we see that don’t seem out of the ordinary at the time but in retrospect now, hearing that police are engaged in an investigation in that area, some red flags might be going off in our minds now as we sit down for supper and we start watching the news. The smallest piece of information can certainly advance any investigation.”
Anyone with information regarding the ongoing investigation is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS (8477).
