Woman Facing Charges in Latest Killing

On March 10, 2016, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a media release indicating Bernadette Neepin (37) of Winnipeg has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the City’s latest homicide.

On March 8, 2016, at approximately 10:45 pm, Police responded to the 100 block of Allenby Crescent regarding the report of an injured male.

Upon arrival, Police located a 45-year-old man who was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased.

Police have identified the victim as Frederick Bird (45) of Winnipeg.

Media reports indicate Bird was stabbed to death.

Neepin was detained in custody.

A spokesperson from the WPS Public Information Office indicates the killing was not domestic related however Bird and Neepin were previously known to each other.

INSIDER COMMENTARY:

Frederick Bird is the 7th reported homicide victim in Winnipeg this year.

Last year the 7th homicide was reported on April 25 – forty-eight days later than this year.
