Domestic Violence Cited in Charleswood Homicide

Winnipeg Police are reporting domestic violence is to blame for the death of a woman found deceased on May 21, 2018, at a residence at 625 Buckingham Road in Charleswood.

On Friday, May 25, 2018, police issued a press release indicating;

“Investigators have determined the incident was domestic related and the female had been assaulted, sustaining upper-body injuries, prior to her death. The male’s injuries were found to be self-inflicted.”

The female victim was identified as Angela Turner (50).

The male was identified as Lorne Turner (58).

Police spokesperson Constable Tammy Skrabek indicated the couple had been married for approximately 30 years but had recently separated.

Police advised they are not seeking any “outstanding persons” related to the investigation but would like to speak with anyone who may be able to provide additional information to assist the investigation.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.

The last reported homicide in Winnipeg was on April 4, 2018, when Gilbert Chartrand (42) was stabbed to death in the 500 block of Agnes Street. Police subsequently charged Faron Henderson (28) and Jerome Kakagamic (24) with 2nd-degree murder in connection with the killing.

Angela Turner is the 6th reported homicide victim of 2018.

In 2017, the 6th homicide of the year was recorded on March 12th.

On May 23, 2017, the City recorded its 10th homicide case.
