Police have identified the victim as Christopher Helstrom (27) of Teulon, Manitoba.

On July 15, 2019, WPS Homicide Detectives arrested a suspect in connection with the killing who is yet to be charged.

WPS Public Information Officer Constable Rob Carver indicated the suspect and victim were known to each other;

“They were known to each other and I believe they were both residents of that particular building,” Carver said.

He continued;

“I believe the person we currently have in custody was a resident of the building and my understanding is that the deceased was staying at the building. Whether he was a permanent resident or simply staying there temporarily, I’m not sure. But he wasn’t just traveling and in Winnipeg from Teulon.”

The investigation is continuing by members of the WPS Homicide Unit.

Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call Police at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
