Multiple Arrests in Colony Street Killing

Four (4) people are facing Manslaughter charges in the wake of a deadly beating on Colony Street in Winnipeg.

On April 25, 2016, at approximately 12:30 pm, EMS personnel were dispatched to a “check the well-being” call in the 100 block of Colony Street.

Upon arrival, responding units located a male victim in his 40’s suffering serious upper body injuries.

The man was transported to hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

Winnipeg Police Patrol Officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit arrested four (4) suspects in the area of Canora Street and Picardy Ave.

The investigation was led by the Homicide and Major Crimes Unit Detectives and resulted charges of Manslaughter being laid against;

  • Silvia Noreen McKay (39)
  • Kirby James Crow (28)
  • Rachel Lynn Little (32)
  • Dennis Ashley Baptiste (30)

All four (4) suspects were detained in custody.

Police have not released the identity of the victim nor have they made any comment regarding the cause of death.

The victim in this case is the 9th reported homicide in Winnipeg this year.

In 2015, the 9th homicide was reported on May 16.

  2. These senseless and barbaric acts of violence occur too often. I suspect that the overwhelming majority of offenders are habitual, repeat offenders with lengthy records and release conditions, recog orders, etc. It would be interesting for your readers if you included that information. It would highlight how woefully inadequate our “justice system” is at protecting citizens from violent predators.
