Insider Commentary:

The man killed in the first incident is the 19th reported homicide victim of the year in the City of Winnipeg.

Six (6) of the nineteen (19) reported homicide cases remain unsolved – solvency rate = 68%.

(As many of these investigations are very much active, expect the solvency rate to dramatically improve over the next few weeks.)

Homicide Statistics

In 2018, the 19th homicide of the year was recorded on the 23rd day of November.

In 2011, the City of Winnipeg recorded a record 41 homicide cases.

In 2011, the 19th homicide of the year was recorded on the 16th day of July.

(On July 16, 2011 – the WPS investigated the arson-related homicide of five people that included 4 men and 1 woman ranging in ages from 22 – 56. While this incident had a dramatic impact on the homicide statistics, 2011 would have been a record year for homicide regardless.)
