Police are investigating the seventeenth (17th) homicide of the year in Winnipeg.
On July 28, 2016, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Winnipeg Police General Patrol units and the Tactical Support Team responded to the area of the 100 block of Bannerman Avenue regarding the report of shots fired.
Police subsequently located a crime scene in a multi-family dwelling in the area.
Police indicate the Homicide Unit is now investigating.
Police spokesperson Constable Rob Carver declined to confirm the age or gender of the victim but did say;
“I would suggest that if the Homicide Unit is investigating, it’s likely there is an individual that’s deceased. It’s not a child, just to confirm that it’s an adult.”
No other details have been provided.
Police have investigated two other firearm related homicides this year.
Of the 17 reported homicides this year, four (4) remain unsolved – solvency rate 75%.
