Police Investigating Pritchard Murder – Guns, Drugs or Gangs?

The Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit is in the middle of yet another north-end murder investigation.

On August 22, 2019, at approximately 9:30 a.m., EMS responded to a medic call regarding an injured man in the 800 block of Pritchard Avenue.

On arrival, a man in his twenties was located and rushed to hospital in critical condition. He subsequently died from his injuries.

Police have not released information regarding the victim’s identity, the cause of death or motive for the killing.

The victim, in this case, is the 27th homicide victim of the year.

Police have solved all but 4 of the 27 cases – solvency rate = 85%.

In 2018, the City of Winnipeg recorded a total of twenty-two (22) homicide cases.

In 2011, the City of Winnipeg recorded a record 41 homicide cases.

In 2011, the 27th homicide of the year was recorded on the 25th day of August.
