Insider Commentary

The WPS Homicide Unit has solved all ten (10) reported homicides this year – solvency rate = 100%.

The 9th homicide case of the year was reported on April 10, 2017 – some forty-four (44) days prior to Ano’s murder.

In 2016, the tenth (10th) homicide was recorded on April 27.

The year ended with 26 reported homicides with 3 cases remaining unsolved – solvency rate 88%.

(Note: The 2016 solvency rate jumps to 96% should police solve the murders of John Bendon (61) and Brenda Campbell (51) who died on July 7, 2017 in an arson related homicide.

Several media outlets are incorrectly calling Ano’s homicide the 11th murder of the year.
