Police Seeking Pair of Alleged Killers

Members of the Winnipeg Police Service’s Homicide Unit are looking for a pair of suspects in the aftermath of a killing in the City’s West End on Wednesday evening.

On April 4, 2018, at approximately 7:50 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a stabbing in the 500 block of Agnes Street.

On arrival, an injured man was located and transported to hospital in critical condition. He was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The victim was identified as Gilbert Chartrand (42) of Winnipeg.

On Friday, April 6, 2018, the WPS issued a media release requesting the public’s assistance in locating two men implicated in the killing.

The first man was identified as Faron Junior Henderson (28).

Henderson is described asĀ 6’1″ tall and weighs 185 pounds.

The second man was identified as Jerome Devon Kakagamic (24).

Kakagamic is described as 6′ tall and weighs 172 pounds.

Police have obtained arrest warrants for 2nd degree murder for both men.

Police indicate both men are considered armed & dangerous and are not to be approached under any circumstance.

The last reported homicide in Winnipeg occurred on February 14, 2018, some fifty (50) days ago.

Gilbert Chartrand is the 5th reported victim of homicide in the City of Winnipeg this year.

Police could not confirm the motive for the killing, if it was drug or gang related, or if the victim knew his alleged killers.

The WPS Homicide Unit has solved all five (5) killings achieving a 100% solvency rate.
