Four Vancouver men will be appearing in a Saskatoon courtroom today following an investigation into cocaine trafficking in the city.
On Saturday, March 23, 2013, members of the Saskatoon Integrated Drug Unit (SIDU) conducted a traffic stop of a rental car. As officers approached the vehicle one of the occupants attempted to flee on foot, throwing a bag to the ground in the process. Inside the bag were numerous pieces of pre-packaged cocaine. The suspect and another man inside the vehicle were taken into custody.
Police also conducted a search of a room in a hotel in the 300 block of Circle Drive North. They located in total, 43.7 grams of cocaine, and approximately $500 in cash.
A third suspect was arrested at the hotel and a fourth at a nearby restaurant.
The Vancouver men, ages 25, 23, and two age 22, are all facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, and possession of the proceeds of crime.
SIDU is an integrated unit made up of members of the Saskatoon Police Service and RCMP “F” Division.
