On September 20, 2014 just before 5:00 am, Police responded to a residence in the 100 block of Hill Street regarding the report of a female in need of assistance.

On arrival, a WPS Officer spotted a suspect in the area of Caton Street and Hill Street and attempted to make an arrest during which time the Officer sustained non-life threatening injuries.  The suspect was eventually secured and taken into custody.

Police subsequently located an adult female in the lower level suite of the residence who was suffering from serious upper body injuries.  The woman was transported from the scene in critical condition but later died from her injuries.

The identities of the victim and suspect will not be released pending notification of next of kin.

Autopsy results are pending.

Police indicate a twenty-five (25) year old male remains in custody and will face charges.

The woman killed in this incident is the eighteenth (18) reported homicide victim in Winnipeg in 2014.

  1. James although we are at 18 homicides just think if not for the paramedics we could be at 50 . We now seem to put names on things so it sounds nicer . Like aggravated assault is just one of them. Someone can shank or stab someone and it’s not called the way it should be. But regarding domestic disputes in reality these cant be stopped. Our society is going crazy and if I could go to Mars if they ever se up a colony I would .
